The Georgia Fintech Academy is expanding its role in advancing AI-driven workforce development through its participation in the MIT PATH initiative, recently announced in collaboration with Georgia State University. Laura Gibson-Lamothe, Executive Director of the Georgia Fintech Academy, spoke at the MIT PATH Summit hosted at Georgia State, contributing to discussions focused on building scalable, industry-aligned pathways into emerging fields such as artificial intelligence.
Building on its established model, the Georgia Fintech Academy is leveraging its network across the University System of Georgia to translate emerging technologies into applied, job-ready skills. With thousands of students engaged annually through curriculum, experiential learning, and industry partnerships, the Academy is uniquely positioned to support the rapid development of AI talent—particularly at the intersection of financial services, data, and technology.
“We’ve seen firsthand that the most effective way to prepare students for emerging technologies like AI is through applied, industry-connected learning,” said Laura Gibson-Lamothe, Executive Director of the Georgia Fintech Academy. “Fintech has been one of the most advanced proving grounds for this model. As AI continues to reshape financial services, we have an opportunity to build scalable pathways that connect students directly to real-world experience.”
