Georgia Fintech Academy's Mission

The Georgia Fintech Academy is a talent development initiative for the fintech industry. Students from across the University System of Georgia participate in classes, events, and projects to prepare for jobs in the fintech industry.

History

  • Timeline

    2018

    The American Transaction Processing Coalition led a group of fintech companies in Georgia to ask the University System of Georgia Board of Regents to collaborate with the fintech industry to create an educational initiative focused on preparing diverse students for careers in fintech.

    In 2019, the Georgia Fintech Academy of the University System of Georgia was born.

    Today 26 institutions including Georgia State University, Kennesaw State University, and University of Georgia participate in the program every semester.

The 12 public fintech companies in Georgia alone generate $49 billion+ in revenues* and over $2 billion in venture capital was invested in Georgia early-stage fintechs from 2020-2022*.
 
21,000 people are employed by the top fintech companies in Metro Atlanta and 42,000* people overall with an additional 8,000 employed in Columbus, Ga (Global Payments, Aflac, and Synovus)

The GA FinTech Academy is one of the most engaging and suitable resources for Georgia students. The daily webinars are phenomenal and very informative. Speakers from major companies give insight to students that is very interesting and useful. The monthly career fairs that highlight opportunities within FinTech are amazing!
