Kennesaw, GA — On February 25, Kennesaw State University’s Coles College of Business, in partnership with the Georgia Fintech Academy, successfully hosted the 5th Annual Digital Payments Seminar, convening 150 students, faculty, and industry professionals for a full day focused on the future of payments and fintech workforce development.
The seminar opened with welcome remarks from Dean Robin Cheramie, Dean of Kennesaw State University’s Coles College of Business, who emphasized the importance of aligning academic programs with industry needs and preparing students for the rapidly evolving payments and fintech landscape.
Held on campus at Kennesaw State University, the seminar explored key trends shaping the digital payments ecosystem, including emerging payment technologies, stablecoins, cross-border payments, regulatory considerations, and the evolving skills required for careers in fintech. The event continues to serve as a platform where academia and industry intersect to share insights and connect talent with opportunity.
The agenda featured keynote remarks from Jonathan Partridge with Bank Modern, expert-led panel discussions, and interactive sessions with leaders from across the payments and fintech landscape, including 154 Advisors, Visa, SableAssent Coin Corporation, and Brown Capital Advisors. Speakers shared real-world perspectives on innovation, infrastructure, compliance, and career pathways within the rapidly evolving payments sector.
A major highlight of the seminar was the student project showcase, where Kennesaw State University fintech students presented classroom projects developed as part of their coursework. The presentations demonstrated practical application of payments concepts, problem-solving, and industry-relevant skills. One student team was awarded a $2,000 scholarship in recognition of an outstanding project, reinforcing the university’s commitment to experiential learning and student success.
The event also included a Fintech Pitch Competition and dedicated networking opportunities, allowing students to engage directly with industry professionals and explore potential career pathways within fintech and payments.
